By the end of 2011, Australia was producing more than 2.2 GW of power exclusively from wind farms. Five of the 58 wind farms operating across the country were constructed in 2011 adding an extra 234 MW of capacity to the grid and capacity has grown by 35 per cent year on year since 2007. This prodigious growth may come to an end though with the upcoming reassessment of the Australian government’s national Renewable Energy Target (RET).By the end of 2011, Australia was producing more than 2.2 GW of power exclusively from wind farms.
